The Complete Guide to Claude Certifications (2026)

By AI7x7 Editorial · Published 4 November 2026 · Last reviewed 4 November 2026 · 9 min read

Anthropic launched four role-based Claude certifications in 2026, delivered through Pearson VUE and registered via the Anthropic Partner Academy. This guide covers what each one tests, who it is for, what it costs, how the exam works and how to register — using the official exam guides as the source, with the version we verified shown on each certification page.

The four certifications at a glance

CertificationCodeFeeItemsTimeDomains
Claude Certified Associate – FoundationsCCAO-F$9960120 min7
Claude Certified Developer – FoundationsCCDV-F$12553120 min8
Claude Certified Architect – FoundationsCCAR-F$12560120 min5
Claude Certified Architect – ProfessionalCCAR-P$17563120 min7

All four share the same scoring model: a scaled score of 720 on a 100–1,000 scale to pass, set by a formal standard-setting study, with pass/fail reported alongside percent-correct by domain. Credentials are valid for 12 months and renewed with a free, non-proctored assessment on the Partner Academy if done on time.

Associate – Foundations (CCAO-F)

The non-technical credential. It targets professionals who use Claude as a core productivity tool — analysts, project managers, operations, marketing, HR, education — and explicitly says no development or API experience is needed. Seven domains, with Output Evaluation and Validation the heaviest at 21%. Note that this one does not count toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility.

Developer – Foundations (CCDV-F)

The engineer's exam: Claude API mechanics, Claude Code, tool use, MCP, agents, model selection, security and cost. Eight domains with unusually granular sub-domain weights; Applications and Integration alone is 33.1%. The guide recommends 1–5 years of software engineering and six months hands-on with Claude or comparable LLM systems.

Architect – Foundations (CCAR-F)

For solution architects who design and build production agent systems. It is the only scenario-structured exam: each sitting draws four scenarios from a published bank of six (customer support agent, code generation, multi-agent research, developer productivity, CI, structured extraction). Five domains; Agentic Architecture & Orchestration is 27%.

Architect – Professional (CCAR-P)

The senior credential, with 63 items and the highest fee. Seven domains spanning solution design, integration (including RAG and authentication), evaluation, governance, stakeholder communication and developer enablement. The guide recommends three or more years in systems architecture and six months delivering LLM systems in production.

Eligibility and registration

Official exam registration is through the Anthropic Partner Academy and is described by Anthropic as available to members of the Claude Partner Network (membership is free; firms join at claude.com/partners). AI7x7 resources may be used by anyone for learning and preparation. The practical steps are: review the exam guide, terms and exam policy on the Partner Academy; register and pay; create a Pearson VUE account from the confirmation email; choose OnVUE online proctoring or a test centre. Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead or the fee is forfeited. Your Pearson name must match your government ID exactly; corrections go to Anthropic's certification support address before scheduling.

Retakes and renewal

After a failed attempt you wait 14 days, then 30, then 90, with at most four attempts per exam in a rolling 12-month period, each paid. On-time renewal is free and non-proctored; a lapsed credential means a full retake at full fee, and Anthropic may require a retake if content changes significantly.

Content update on 7 December 2026

Pearson VUE lists updated content for CCAO-F, CCDV-F, CCAR-P effective 7 December 2026, with revised exam guides due 17 November 2026. If you test on or after that date, prepare from the updated guide. Architect – Foundations is not listed in the update.

Which one first?

Anthropic describes the paths as starting at Foundations and advancing to Professional, but no exam has a mandatory prerequisite. If you use Claude but do not build with it, take Associate. If you build with the API or Claude Code, take Developer. If you design agent systems, Architect – Foundations. If you own enterprise delivery end to end, Architect – Professional. Our decision guide goes deeper.
